About ESE
The European Society of Endocrinology has been created to promote for the public benefit research, education and clinical practice in endocrinology by the organisation of conferences, training courses and publications, by raising public awareness, liaison with national and international legislators, and by any other appropriate means.
Major activities include the organisation of the European Congress of Endocrinology. This has become so successful that it is now held annually. ESE also organises a number of postgraduate courses. The European Society of Endocrinology has four official journals; between them they cover the full spectrum of endocrinology and help to raise the profile of European endocrinology. The journals are European Journal of Endocrinology, Journal of Endocrinology, Journal of Molecular Endocrinology and Endocrine-Related Cancer.
General Council and Membership
The overall governing body of ESE is the General Council, which comprises all
ordinary members,
affiliated societies and
corporate members. Ordinary membership is open to any individual working in the field of endocrinology and hormonal systems. Affiliated societies membership is open to national endocrine societies and pan-European sub-specialist endocrine societies in Europe. All memberships are subject to approval of the General Council. Corporate membership is open to companies working in the field of endocrinology.
Meetings and Events
For each European Congress of Endocrinology a Programme Organizing Committee and Local Organizing Committee are appointed. Key members of these committees for the next Congress can be found with the
details of this conference.
Prizes and Awards
At each European Congress of Endocrinology two prize lectures are given: the
European Journal of Endocrinology Prize and the
Geoffrey Harris Prize in Neuroendocrinology.
In addition, prizes are available for high-scoring abstracts. More information can be found at
